Short-Term Disability (STD)
Short-Term Disability (STD) coverage through Larkin pays a benefit if you temporarily can’t work because of an injury, illness, or pregnancy. Payments may be reduced if you receive other income such as sick pay, workers’ compensation, Social Security, or if you are eligible for state disability. Employees will receive salary continuation from Rakuten during the 7-day elimination period. Disability payments will be issued by the company and is administered by Larkin.

Long-Term Disability (LTD)
If you can’t work for a longer time, Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage through The Hartford replaces part of your monthly income. If you qualify, LTD benefits begin after short-term disability benefits end. Payments may be reduced by state, federal, or private disability benefits you receive while disabled. The coverage is paid in full by the company.
Short-Term Disability Benefits
- Weekly benefit amount: 60% of covered weekly earnings up to a maximum of $2,500.
- Benefits begin: After 7 days of disability due to an accident or sickness.
- Maximum payment period: 25 weeks (based on the first day you are disabled, not when benefits begin).
Long-Term Disability Benefits
- Weekly benefit amount: 60% of covered monthly earnings up to a maximum of $20,000.
- Benefits begin: After 180 days of disability due to accident or sickness.
- Maximum payment period: Social Security normal retirement age (The age at which disability begins may affect the duration of benefits).
